Tea and Health

Tea is inherently healthful. For centuries, many cultures have regarded tea as an important contributor to good health and longevity.

Recently, scientific studies have begun to delve more deeply into the benefits and attributes of the plant.

Researchers have found that tea has beneficial effects on:

  • Brain (mental) health:Unique amino acids found almost exclusively in tea prevent mental fatigue, ease stress, reduce anxiety, increase mental alertness, improve concentration, and increase short-term memory.
  • Body (physical) health: The amino acids and antioxidants in tea combine to protect bones, reduce physical fatigue, reduce hypertension (high blood pressure), aid in digestion, inhibit intestinal inflammation, and increase metabolism.
  • Longevity (long life): Special antioxidants in tea combat free radicals and fight the degenerative effects of aging. Tea also boosts the immune system, helps to lower cholesterol, and may help reduce the risk of cancer, cardiovascular disease, Parkinson’s disease, and Alzheimer’s disease.

It certainly doesn’t hurt that tea has zero calories, and hydrates while delivering its healthy benefits.

Also, reduction of stress and anxiety plays an important role on mental balance and well-being. Stress affects our immune system, thereby reducing our ability to maintain good health. The six minutes of your life spent making a good cup of tea can yield great dividends in the form of a lasting contribution to your overall health.
